The OF calendar was created in 1992, connecting a travel through Italy, Greece, and Turkey by the two creators with the time of their professional education.
The basic time unit of the OF calendar is the Faul (spoken as ‘foul’), which has a length of 24 hours, beginnig at midnight. Thus, the Faul corresponds to the civil day. The epoch is 1 September 1988, Gregorian.
The creators travelled through the countries mentioned above during a period of 26 days. Therefore, 26 Fauls constitute an Urlaubum, which is divided into three Empires. Table 1 shows the division of an Urlaubum into the three Empires Italica, Hellas, and Osman.
The largest time unit is the Stress, containing 9 Urlaubi the sequence, names, and lengths of which are shown in the following table.
| No. | Name | Length | ||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Horror | 26 | ||
| 2 | Gewöhn | 26 | ||
| 3 | Endgül | 26 | ||
| 4 | Trott | 26 | ||
| 5 | Imberg | 26 | ||
| 6 | Schlaf | 26 | ||
| 7 | Brömul | 26 | ||
| 8 | Geschwind | 26 | ||
| 9 | Prüf | 26 |
There is no necessity to introduce leap Stresses as the OF calendar has no astronomical background.
The Stresse are counted sequentially, beginning with Stress 1 (after OF), which began on 1 September 1988. Note, that there is no Stress 0; thus 26 Prüf 1 BOF is followed by 1 Horror 1.
An OF date can be written in long or in short forms. The short form consists of the Urlaubum, the number of the Faul within the Urlaubum, and the Stress, which must be marked if before OF, e. g. as 26 BOF or, more shortly, as 26b. The long form gives the Empire and the number of the Faul within the Empire.
The following table shows the designation of the Fauls in both the Short and Long Forms.
| Faul | Designation in | |||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Long Form | ||||
| 1 | 1 Italica | |||
| 2 | 2 Italica | |||
| 3 | 3 Italica | |||
| 4 | 1 Hellas | |||
| 5 | 2 Hellas | |||
| ... | ... | |||
| 10 | 7 Hellas | |||
| 11 | 1 Osman | |||
| 12 | 2 Osman | |||
| ... | ... | |||
| 26 | 16 Osman |
Thus, 18 Horror 26 before OF can be written as follows: -
